The game is played over two Eras, each of which takes place over 9 rounds. The dealer draws 1 character and 4 terrain cards and places them below the draw piles, in a face-up column. (5 terrain cards with 5-6 players) Each player secretly chooses an auction card from his or her hand and places it face-down.
